Backyard In Progress

First of all, let me thank each of you for the kind comments on my first two posts!  I think I am going to like blogging and meeting new friends!  However, I do wonder what in the world I have to say that someone would be interested in.  But then I remember all of the blogs I read and how very different they all are and I love them all!

I'd like to share some pictures of our backyard.  It is still a work in progress.  We had a swimming pool but last year my husband FINALLY talked me into getting rid of it.  So we hired a company to dig it out and fill it in with dirt.

This is our beloved Charlie wondering what happened to the pool!!  Charlie passed away last September.

We then moved the little yellow pool house back about 12 feet towards the back of our yard and my son laid a brick patio for me right in front of the pool house.

We also put in a spa with a gazebo and just got a lot of plants.

Here's Peter the Rabbit amid my lavender.  I love when I brush up against the lavender on a cool evening.  It. smells. wonderful.

The bad thing is that parts of California (our part!) are on water rationing so our lawn looks terrible in the backyard!  I hate having to ration water!  Those of you that have an abundance of it, be very thankful!

I still have a lot of stuff to do in the yard but as you know, it takes time AND money!!

Thank you for visiting Yellow Beach Dog today!  On Sunday evening, I will be announcing my first giveaway!  I'm excited!!

  1. Thank you for stopping by to visit my blog. I check in with comments and more posting almost daily, so no worries about me seeing it. With Jules teaching, having the open invite of an email address is a bit too much temptation for some students; so we have shied away from it.

As for wondering about why people read, I've realized my life is only boring because I live it every day. Everyone else's seemingly boring lives they live every day are so very interesting!

  2. I've never thought of it that way but you're so right! :-)

I'm looking forward to getting caught up on your blog when I get the time!

    Take care!

  3. At first I was wondering why you would take a pool out. But now I realize it means a lot less upkeep for you, and smaller water bill and no more pool cleaning supplies and so on. My parents have a pool. Been there since 1972. I have not swam in a long time. My parents don't really use it anymore, but my brother and his kids do like to use it. However, something is the filtering system is not working and the pool is not fit to swim in right now. So the pain of pool upkeep is something I am glad to not have. I will just take a cool shower when I need to cool off from the heat. I am not sure if we are on water rationing yet, but we are supposed to conserve. I am following you so I can keep up. :-)

  4. Welcome to blogland MJ! My heart did a little leap when I saw your beautiful Charlie -- we had two different shepherds over 25 years and I miss them so much. They're such beautiful dogs! Big hugs to Charlie from me!!!
